On successful completion of the Diploma of Western and Eastern Dance Performance, dancers will be employable and be in the position to self-develop performance projects, utilising additional skills and knowledge to oversee the creative development of performance pieces undertaken by chorus or other dance ensemble members. Skills in project management and budgeting allow diploma level graduates to develop project proposals and implement them effectively.

Specifically, learners will be able to:

  • Critique a range of dance genres from Western and Eastern cultural perspectives and value the diversity of dance performance
  • Recognise, analyse and evaluate distinguishing features of Western and Eastern dance
    Demonstrate, explore and apply the combined use of the elements of Western and Eastern dances in a range of directed and self-directed performance activities
  • Perform Western and Eastern dance skills with confidence, commitment, focus, consistency, performance quality and with due consideration of safe dance practices
  • Apply skills and knowledge of self-management of the dancer as an industry level performer within a professional industry context and required safe dance practices
